מפגש מורשת בינלאומי – כ"ג (כ״ד) יורדי הסירה , מבצע המכונה ביומן המלחמה הבריטי מבצע ״בוסאן״ BOATSWAIN) נערך ב 28.5.25 בזום (ישראל - בריטניה). במפגש הושם דגש על זווית הראייה של גורמי הביטחון הבריטיים שיזמו את המבצע בהובלת מנהלת המבצעים המיוחדים SOE.
היתה זו הזדמנות לשמוע על האופן בו הבריטים שומרים על מורשת פעילותם המבצעית בארץ ישראל וזוכרים במיוחד את האירוע שבשבילנו הוא כ"ג יורדי הסירה ואצלם הוא 24 לוחמי הים (כולל מיג'ור פלמר הבריטי) שטבעו בפעולה הראשונה של הפלמ"ח (הפלי"ם) סמוך להקמתו במאי 1941.
Paul McCue מעמותת מורשת מבצעים מיוחדים במלחמת העולם ה2 הציג באופן מרשים פרזנטציה יסודית, מרהיבה, מקיפה ומרגשת. הוא סקר את התקופה ברקע המדיני והצבאי, השיתוף הבריטי-עברי, ההכנות למבצע , ההשערות לגבי סיבת היעלמם ופעולות ההנצחה שנערכו בארץ ובבריטניה.
תא"ל מיל' ארז מייזל מוביל בשם ארגון ״מורשת ההגנה״ קשר אישי עם העמותה הבריטית והוא יזם והנחה את המפגש.
אפרים לפיד פתח בברכת ארגון ההגנה ואלוף דודו בן בעש"ט, יו"ר עמותת מורשת חיל הים, שיתף במשמעות של מבצע זה של הפלי"ם, ראשיתו של חיל הים הישראלי.

Operation BOATSWAIN (18 May 1941) - Joint UK - Special Operations Executive (SOE) - HAGANA / PALMAH (“The
Friends”) to destroy a French Vichy target in Lebanon (Tripoli refinery). Known in Israel as the “23” the lecture was a refreshing look at this unique operation from the UK’s perspective.
A special Zoom presentation was given (25 May 2025) by Mr. Paul McCue (Executive Trustee - Secret WW2 Learning Network - UK) in cooperation with HAGANA Heritage & Israel Navy League.
Opening remarks from, Dr. BG (r.) Ephraim Lapid (H.H) & VADM David Ben Bashat (I.N.L) followed by Mr. McCue’s exceptional lecture on the operation (which unfortunately failed with catastrophic results) and its influence on Israel’s Special Operation culture and ethos.
The lecture, based on Mr. McCue’s research and additional Israeli historical works, presented in detail the mission planning (SOE and HAGANA high motivation to execute regardless) and the various theories regarding its failure (loss of 23 HAGANA members and a British SOE officer - total of 24 heroic operators). An interesting fact was presented - a similar UK operation (the cutting of telephone lines IVO Beirut) was launched a month later on the 7 June by a competing British covert formation G(R) with the loss of one Jewish operator. This only highlighting the early days for British Special Operations in the Levantine.
Occurring on the 600th day of war in Israel, our 58 heroic hostages were mentioned praying for the speedy return to their families.
